THE CERTIFICATE

The Capstone Certificate of Professional French Studies is an interdisciplinary program of study which develops and enhances professional skills for careers demanding an advanced comprehension of French and French-language cultures.

The Certificate principally enhances academic credentials and professional experience already earned by the student, within a chosen concentration area: Business, Education, European Union Affairs, International Development, and Media/Arts/Cultural Production. The student is required to complete 20 credits, 9 of which must be fulfilled by core French classes and 8 of which are completed in the concentration area. The required professional internship abroad accounts for three credits.

At the heart of the PFMP is the required professional internship in a French-speaking international organization. Both MFS and Certificate students complete the internship, in an organization directly related to the student's chosen concentration area.

Visit each of these links to learn more about the five concentration areas. There you will also find a list of courses offered by various departments. Keep in mind that not all courses are offered each academic year, so be sure to check with the host department for course availability.
