Contemporary theory of international trade and finance developed and applied
to current problems in international economic relations. Not open to students

664 Advanced International Trade:
Policies relating to trade, tariffs, balance of payments, and aid programs
with special emphasis on recent developments and the role played by the
United States.
665 International Trade Policy:
International trade policies of the United States and other countries
are studied in historical, institutional, and analytical terms. Analysis
of international agencies established to promote trade expansion, provide
rules of good behavior, and settle trading disputes among countries.
666 Advanced International Finance:
Modern institutions, history, and controversies of international financial
relations. Foreign exchange market, the Euro-currency banking system,
and central bank intervention in both.
871 Advanced International Economics:
General equilibrium algebraic and geometric modeling of open economies
with balanced trade, and the welfare economics on international exchange
and barriers thereto.
872 Advanced International Economics:
Algebraic and geometric modeling of open macroeconomics with unbalanced
trade and payments, focusing analytically on the foreign exchange market
and the determinants of the exchange rate.
873 Seminar-International Economics:
Individual research and group discussion of selected topics in the theory
of international trade.

This course explores the techniques and outcomes of bargains struck between
states, and between states and firms in the global economy. The emphasis
is on micro political economy and negotiations/bargaining theory.
337 International Institutions and World Order:
The study of international cooperation and the analysis of regional, functional,
and universal regimes and institutions.
338 The European Union: Politics and Political Economy:
Introduction to the history and theory of European integration. Topics
include the workings of EU institutions and law, the effect of the EU
on national politics and economy, economic politics and policy-making
in the EU, the EU as an actor in the world economy.
857 International Relations Theories:
Analysis of the major theories on the functioning of the international
political system and the behavior of nations within it.
